Step into the funky, old-world charm of New York City’s East Village on this delicious journey through its Polish and Eastern European heritage. Indulge in a feast of flavors, including buttery potato pierogi (dumplings), spicy beer kielbasa sausage, Polish pączki raspberry jelly donuts, and a creamy chocolate or vanilla B&H Egg Cream paired with a slice of Zagat’s top-rated challah. We’ll finish on a sweet note with raspberry and apricot rugelach.
As we stroll down Second Avenue, we’ll trace the footsteps of the famed Yiddish Rialto. See the Yiddish Theater Walk of Fame and the beautifully preserved 1925 Moorish Revival Jaffe Yiddish Theater. Along the way, we’ll pass one of New York’s oldest churches—St. Mark’s in-the-Bowery (built in 1792)—on land once owned by Peter Stuyvesant. You’ll also discover the story of Kleine Deutschland (“Little Germany”), which in the 1880s was home to 50,000 German immigrants—enough to fill today’s Yankee Stadium. That’s a lot of beer!
Your guide, Greg, learned his love of food in his Polish-American mother’s kitchen—mastering the art of mashing potatoes for pierogi and grilling Italian sausages. Through his NYC East Village Polish Food Tour, Greg shares his passion for Old World flavors, local history, and community spirit. The neighborhood comes alive with stories, music, and laughter—and if you’re lucky, Greg might even play a little polka or break into song!
