FAQs

What is a walking food tour in Greenwich Village?

A walking food tour is a guided stroll through Greenwich Village where you enjoy curated tastings from beloved local spots while learning neighborhood history, culture, music, and stories. With Greg Walks NYC, you’ll sample several bites, hear great stories, and explore iconic Village streets — at an easy, relaxed pace.

How big are the tour groups?

Public tours are intentionally small — usually 2 to 8 guests — for a friendly, personal experience. Private and corporate tours are also available.

What happens if it rains or snows?

Tours run in rain, snow, or shine, as long as conditions are safe. If weather doesn’t cooperate, tours will be rescheduled. You’ll be notified ahead of time when possible.

Should I eat before the tour?

Have a light snack beforehand, but don’t arrive full — you’ll be tasting plenty along the way.

Do you offer private, group, or corporate food tours?

Yes! Private celebrations, birthdays, school trips, and corporate team-building tours are available. Contact Greg to plan something special.

How long is the tour, and how much walking is involved?

Most tours last 2 to 3 hours, depending on group size. The walking is comfortable and paced with frequent stops to eat, chat, and explore. There are no major hills, and the routes are stroller- and family-friendly.

What kinds of food will we try?

Depending on the tour, bites may include Italian specialties, bagels, pizza, sweets, coffee, and neighborhood favorites — often from family-run shops 75–125 years old. Samples and stops may change, but everything is chosen with care, quality, and flavor in mind.

What is the cancellation policy?

You may receive a full refund up to 24 hours in advance. Within 24 hours, tickets are non-refundable — because we’ve already confirmed tastings with our partners.

Where do the tours start and end?

Each tour meets at an easy-to-find Greenwich Village location shared in your confirmation email. Tours usually end within a short walk of the starting point.

Are the tours bilingual?

Yes — tours are offered in English, with Italian or Spanish when requested in advance.

Will I be full after the tour?

Samples are generous — not full meals — but most guests feel satisfied by the end. If you’re still hungry, tell Greg — your tummy should be happy by the time we say goodbye!

Do you offer vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options?

Yes — but you must tell Greg BEFORE the tour starts. Vegan samples can be arranged. Not every stop can accommodate every restriction, but we will do our best to make sure you enjoy the experience.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely. Tours are family-friendly and open to ages 1 to 99. Kids love samples, stories, and watching the Village come alive.

Is the guide really a licensed NYC tour guide?

Yes — Greg is a licensed New York City tour guide, a proud GANYC member, and a longtime Village resident who loves sharing history, food, music, and neighborhood stories.
